Tech Check: Myspace Hijack and Update sites.
This week Chase and Sam talked about the big Myspace hijack that happened over the weekend, and we urged you to do a few things to avoid this happening in the future. You need to update (at least) the following three things:

1. Your Flash Player: Click Here. Firefox users click here.

2. Your Java: Click Here

3. Your operating system: CLICK HERE (if using I.E. 6)

Chase and Sam just happened to be the first to discover this weekends Myspace hijack, and submitted the information to Digg, where the story ended up getting almost 2400 digs, and over 180 comments. The story made the Washington Post (blog), Symantec, and other security sites.

This Week's Tech Check: RAM
On this week's Tech Check, Chase and Sam talked about RAM or (system memory) - usually the single best upgrade for your computer in terms of value and performance.

First, you need to know what kind/speed of RAM your system takes, and how much maximum ram it can hold per slot. A good place to check is either Crucial.com (CLICK HERE) or Belarc.com (CLICK HERE). Be sure you read the directions!!! Either of these sites should be able to tell you what kind of ram you need, and what is the maximum your system can hold. Don't know how much RAM you have now? Click start, then settings, then control panel, then system, and it will tell you how much you have in the lower right corner.

You also need to be very careful when installing the RAM - static electricity is a killer. Make sure you are properly grounded, and make sure you are inserting the RAM into the proper slot in the proper way. Do not rock it back and forth; firm downward force is what's called for here.

Here are some sites that will help you with installing and understanding RAM:

Great websites for finding online deals:
Slick Deals: They offer around 4-10 good deals a day on anything from Dell computers to DVDs to power tools. Not recommended for impulse buyers: CLICK HERE

Tech Bargains: More tech focused, and more coupons in general than the above site, but not quite as elegant or simple to use; still the sheer quantity here is very good: CLICK HERE

Fat Wallet: This is a bargain hunters meta-site, with forums, coupons, advice and a community dedicated to finding great bargains. CLICK HERE

Froogle: Google's very useful tool to compare prices for a particular product - we used it this week to save $20.00 off of ink for our churches printer - easy to use and very helpful, though not a coupon site. CLICK HERE
