VOIP - The cheapest way to make phone calls! |
Tonight's Tech Check was on VOIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocal. It's a fancy term, but basically VOIP is merely a way to route telephone calls over the internet.
The main VOIP implementation we focused on tonight was SKYPE found at www.skype.com It's a free way to voice chat with anybody in the world who also has Skype. Skype also will allow you to make calls to regular phone lines, though they do charge for that.
Lingo is one company that services our area for VOIP - they offer unlimited calling to the U.S. and Canada (as well as some western European countries) for only 19.95 per month.
Keep in mind that Sam and I run a coffee house/internet cafe downtown called Elevation: We are open Friday from 11:30-1:00 AM, so drop by and see us! We also design and promote websites, so if you need help in that area call us at: 322-4966 or click here to email us.
For much more information on VOIP, check out the Wikipedia's entry here: VOIP |
