Internet coverage of Katrina. |
What a disaster Hurricane Katrina is turning out to be! Tonight's Tech Check was on ways to track this particular disaster, and can also help you dig deeper for future big news events. Here are the links we mentioned, along with a few others worth your while. Please note that blogs are a bit different than big news websites, and may contain objectionable language or content. We make every effort here to only link to things that would be family friendly, but be cautious nonetheless.
First off, Foxnews has several good photo and video streams, as well as a lot of fresh hurricane news.
Our local Fox affiliate, WBRC, has links to several disaster aid organizations that you may donate to.
Other sites mentioned: Eyes on Katrina - Blog maintained by a local Mississippi newspaper's staff
Dancing with Katrina - Maintained by a couple of Gulfport Mississippi guys who rode out the storm. (keeping in mind the above blog warning - read the comments on these posts to get information, and get an idea what people are going through in this area.)
Technorati - The Blog search and indexing site: search for Katrina to find over 70,000 blog postings on the subject, arranged by newest first.
Flickr - A photo indexing site - search on Katrina to find over 3,000 photos, many you won't see on the news. (Be cautious here) One noteworthy picture among hundreds is: Click Here
Wikipedia - The free user edited online encyclopedia has a great write up on Katrina, with lots of charts, pictures, information and comparisons.
We'll try to post more later ..... Please pray for mercy and grace for all of the people affected by this storm.
