3 Steps to Identity Theft Prevention |
Okay.... just in case you don't know who we are ... that wasn't us tonight. A big thanks to our friends Jarrod (playing Sam) and Shawn (playing Chase) for their help with our identity theft segment.
Identity theft is an evergrowing problem online but here are 3 simple steps to make you much less likely to be a statistic:
Step 1 Make sure the credit card you use for online purchases has a good identity theft policy. If it doesn't .... STOP using it.
Step 2 Change your passwords to online accounts regularly (every 2 months or so). Remember to use a number AND letter sequence that is easy for you to remember but hard for others.
Step 3 ALWAYS check out the online store you want to purchase from before submitting any personal information. Here are some good sites to start with:
Better Business Bureau: This site can give you the companies they deem as safe to deal with.
Checking more than one 3rd party shop comparison sights is a real good idea. Remember to look for the sellers rating but also how many reviews give them that rating. The more positive reviews an online store has = a better and most of the time safer shopping experience. Here are some comparison sites:
